My Work
One local shop. One app for the lot.
I built a local shop everything it runs on: the team's rota and checks, gift cards and rewards for its customers, a menu the owners change themselves, and even the TV behind the counter. I've changed its name and redrawn every screen with invented people, so here it's The Corner Café.
For the customers
Easy to buy from, and a reason to come back
Gift cards bought online and sent by text. Rewards that bring people back. A menu that's always right, because the owners update it themselves, and it shows on the app and the website at once. When there's something new, it lands on customers' lock screens.
The Corner Café Half-price cakes till 4pm. Come and say hello.

What your app does for a café
- Regulars order ahead and skip the queue. Their usual is saved, so it's two taps.
- A stamp card on their phone, not a paper one that ends up in the wash.
- A quiet afternoon? Send everyone an offer in one tap.
- Gift cards they can buy at midnight and text to their mum.
- Change the menu and the specials yourself, from your phone.
Drawn for this page with an invented business and invented customers. Your app is designed around your business, with your name, logo and colours.
For the team
No more paper, no more group-chat rota
Everyone has their shifts on their phone and clocks in from it. Swaps, holidays and the day's checks happen in the app, so the paper trail is gone.
What it does
- The week's rota on every phone in the team, and next week's built for the manager around holidays and the days people can't work.
- Shift swaps without the back and forth: a colleague says yes, a manager approves and the rota updates itself.
- Holiday requests, approved or declined in one tap.
- Clock in and out from the phone, with hours and pay worked out from it.
- The day's checks ticked off in the app instead of on a clipboard.
- Training for new starts, and a noticeboard and chat for the whole team.
Behind the counter
And a bit of fun
The TV in the shop stars the team as cartoons, with the shop dog. Customers scan a code on the screen and join in. After closing, the lights go down and it's team only: a bit of banter about who did the mopping.
What the owners asked for
- Keep everything in one place
- Get rid of the paper trails
- Make everything easy for the customer
- Market the business
- Have a bit of fun while we're at it
Your app won't look like this one
Every app I build is designed around one business: its name, its colours, and what it actually needs. A barber's is about bookings, a takeaway's about orders. Tell me what yours would need.
Your business could be the next one.
Tell me what you'd want your own app to do and we'll book a free call. No cost, no obligation, and you'll hear back from me within a few days. If an app isn't right for your business, I'll tell you straight.
